d. Meeting with Haslett Beautification Committee at Marshall Park
e. Applegate Boundary Survey - acquisition will be finalized in the next few weeks.
f. Designing Healthy, Livable Communities Workshop on Monday, Nov. 13 at the Kellogg Center Designing spaces for people that encourage gathering, activity, non-motorized transportation, recreation opportunities, and farmers' markets.
g. Speaking of Farmers' Markets, the market will be open the day before thanksgiving with limited vendors and when people can pick up their pre-ordered turkey.
h. Also, Earl Threadgould, Market Master announced his retirement from his role as Market Master. Earl has managed the operations since 1986. Earl has offered to assist with the transition of a new manager.
i. Okemos Kiwanis Club donated two flag poles (Hartrick and Nancy Moore Park)
j. Presented the Wonch Park Plan to the Okemos-Haslett Rotary Club on October 3. Discussed contribution opportunities. Very positive response.
k. Heritage Festival was held on October 7 and was the most successful ever. Special thanks to Lori Cotter from the Friends of Historic Meridian and Janis Fairbanks from Nokomis for working so well together in organizing and implementing to event.
l. NRPA Conference in Seattle from October 10-14.
m. Oct. 25 met with Lynn Ochberg to discuss the development of an "Artisians Market" on Sundays from Memorial Day to Labor Day. We are forming a sub-committee to develop the program. (utilize the farmers' market pavilion.)
n. Attended the Okemos DDA Board Meeting on Monday, Nov. 6 with John McCann to discuss the most recent Wonch Park Renovation Plan. They were very supportive of the plan. Will White requested that the Farmers' Market be placed in Wonch Park.
o. Nov 7 attended an "Access to Recreation" grant workshop for universally accessible recreation facilities.
p. Welcome a new staff person to the Parks and Grounds maintenance division, Rich Reed ( a Haslett resident who was promoted from the Transfer Station. We are very happy to welcome Rich to our Department.
q. New Office Hours 7:30am to 4:30 pm beginning December 1st.
r. Brattin Woods parking lot is constructed and the pathway installed through the park to the North. Currently, the pathway ends at the north end of the park, but will be continued to Lake Lansing Road in 2008. New would be an appropriated time to identify a trail head location for a future eagle scout project.
s. Parks are in the Process of being winterized, repairing goal mouth areas on soccer fields
t. The Christmas in the Village event is scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 3 from 2-5pm with the tree lighting scheduled at 4pm.
u. Holiday in the Woods at the Harris Nature Center - Saturday, December 9th from 10am-4 pm
v. Interpretive Signs - Van Atta Woods Park funded in part with a grant from the US Forest service
